SUICIDE AND LIFE AFTER DEATH

In their life, mankind face lot of things that possibly could happen. They would get into the problems and then get drawn or get swim to safe their life. In this essay, I would try to analyze the concrete derivation from that abstract, and that is suicide. Suicide was a problem that lot of thinkers that give such explanation about it. Of course, as it in philosophical discourse, it will be related to the problem of choices and responsibility to his or her own life. But in this essay, I will try use religiosities point-of-view, to see this problem. I think that religiosities point-of-view is very intense related to the believe of the suicide’s actor about the life after death, and I think it also philosophical point-of-view. Why I used this point-of-view, the reason is I think this problem, cannot be solved with such philosophical elaboration that already used by thinkers in the past. Why? Because I think that all reason that agree or disagree to suicide, can be rationalized to become false or, in the Popper term, get falsification by another rational elaboration. And I think it is not a radix explanation. Different from the philosophical point-of-view, I think the religiosities point-of-view get deeper in mankind life-world. And it give more rigid condition that cannot give by another point-of-view.


On the suicide problem, from the religiosities point-of-view, there is two side of group that talk about it, the agree group and the disagree group. The agree group, agree because they don’t believe to such a life after death. So, when someone takes a suicide, he or she believes that they wouldn’t go anywhere. And then they believe that it would solve their life’s problems. Their life ends when they go death and after that nothing would happen. Different from the agree group, the disagree group; disagree because they believe on life after death. They believe that their life will be asked for responsibility after death. So, the suicide act is an act that doesn’t solve anything except for a while – maybe.


And then, from the deeper explanation, maybe we can go to further elaboration with made some question about suicide that could be clarify this problem. First, what can be legitimate someone to take a suicide? Because lot of people that had a lot of problem, and then –even didn’t do anything – they can still safe their life. From first question, we can see that the agree group would answer that choices and freedom that they had can legitimate their decisions. But, what about the people that can safe their life even full with problems, why they cannot do the same? The disagree group would answer that there is nothing that could legitimate a suicide, because they can still safe their life without a suicide. Second, what would happen, if all the people cannot face a problem in their life, meanwhile, problem is a necessity condition that mankind must face? This question only brought one answer, that is, all mankind will become a weak creator, even from the other creator, and the humankind will disappear from the earth. And this kind condition is certainly not giving any solution, except big troubles. Third, Are suicide really an individual action or not? Because I think that kind of separation only exists on abstraction. Because, if suicide is a individual action, why that this action effect other people to do the same? I think I agree with Heidegger, that mankind had the modes of exist such being-in-the-world, being-with-other, that clearly show that mankind is related to other peoples, and the natural world.
